Intelligent Telematics’ Safety League Table

Intelligent Telematics, the leading provider of 3G vehicle camera and tracking systems, has introduced a Safety League Table to enable car, van and road transport operators to monitor the best and worst performing drivers within their fleet. It is the first fleet reporting solution of its kind that combines both driver behaviour data along with camera footage of collisions, near misses and harsh driving events to provide a complete picture of how vehicles are being operated.

The Safety League Table uses GPS, accelerometer and video data taken from Intelligent Telematic’s IT1000 3G vehicle camera to rank drivers using a points based system. This is supported by a range of up to 15 key driving parameters that cover all aspects of speeding, acceleration, braking, cornering and idling. In particular, this includes unique percentage overspeed, which calculates the proportion of time spent travelling above road designated speed limits.

A configurable dashboard also provides a high level overview of important fleet and driver information, with the ability to drill down to the required vehicle data and video footage. Meanwhile, a graphical and tabular reporting capability enables companies to analyse historical fleet data over a period of time to identify operational safety and efficiency trends. This can be used to not only track performance, but also measure the effectiveness of any driver training, reward and incentive initiatives.

“This latest development adds a new dimension to driver behaviour monitoring, because it provides insight beyond simply logging driving events,” explains Nick Plowman, CTO of Intelligent Telematics. “Fleet operators can find out exactly why and how something is occurring by accessing the associated video clips, and this added understanding, will enable them to implement or support targeted driver performance and training programmes to achieve improved levels of safety and efficiency. By reducing the number of harsh events occurring within a fleet, it becomes possible to minimise the chances of that future accident happening”

The IT 1000 is the most sophisticated 3G vehicle camera solution currently available with unrivalled accuracy and technology that is sixteen times more powerful than existing solutions in the marketplace. The forward facing device transmits footage of accidents and near misses via a secure 3G private network to a web-based interface with live email and SMS alerts, so a triggered event can be viewed almost immediately.
