Skillweb has been shortlisted alongside Jersey Post in the technology category of the World Post & Parcel Awards 2018. The partnership has been recognised for the development of an advanced parcel management solution, which has helped Jersey Post enhance its delivery operation in terms service quality, cost efficiencies and customer choice.

The initiative, underpinned by mobile workforce and item tracking software SmartTask POD, was designed to improve Jersey Post’s offering for recipients and business partners. As a result, the postal organisation has been able to achieve a wide range service and operational improvements including: Increased first-time delivery, reduced customer service calls, faster customers clearance, increased partner connectivity and reduced overheads.

“The advanced parcel management solution developed jointly with Skillweb has given us the necessary infrastructure to take full advantage of the opportunities that exist, such as the growth in internet shopping,” explains Paul Marett, Director of ICT & Change Programmes. “We have undertaken a major change project to ensure that we are able to continue to offer a sustainable and high-quality post office without the need for government subsidy, which has required us to adapt our operation and leverage technology in order to achieve an improved, more efficient service.”

Paul Ridden, CEO of Skillweb commented: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for this prestigious award, which acknowledges all the hard work and dedication put in by both organisations. We continue to work closely with Jersey Post to help them take advantage of the latest technological innovations within their business to achieve added visibility and control; streamlined supply chain processes; and enhancements to the customer experience.”

Now in its 19th year, the World Post & Parcel Awards showcases the latest innovation and best practice within the mail and express marketplace. The awards recognise those organisations that are embracing change, meeting the challenges and making the most of the opportunities that lie ahead. Winners will be announced and celebrated at a ceremony held at Royal Lancaster in London on 12th June.
