Transport Exchange Group’s freight exchange platform, with more than 4,500 users in the UK’s road transport sector, will be integrated with Navman Wireless’ telematics solutions to help optimise fleet performance and boost profitability. As a result, hauliers, freight forwarders and couriers will now be able to eliminate empty running and wasted capacity through their vehicle tracking system.

Once registered with the freight exchange, transport operators will be able to utilise their vehicle tracking system to promote available capacity and match precise vehicle locations with more than 40,000 loads posted on the freight exchange each month. In addition, by taking advantage of the live vehicle tracking data integration, trading partners will also be able to view the whereabouts and progress of their loads whilst in transit to provide added visibility and peace of mind.

During 2013, Transport Exchange Group launched its second-generation, Java-based freight exchange platform, which is designed to support integration with other technology solutions such as vehicle telematics and transport management systems (TMS). The tie-up with Navman Wireless is the first telematics integration with the exchange that will enable freight operators to streamline their supply chain processes by combining and better utilising complementary technology solutions.

Lyall Cresswell, Managing Director of Transport Exchange Group commented: “We recognised the added value our freight exchanges could deliver to other fleet and transport systems, so our latest Exchange 2.0 version of the platform was developed with integration in mind. We are now in discussions with a wide range of like-minded technology providers that operate within the logistics marketplace, such as Navman Wireless, to take advantage of the collaborative opportunities that exist.”

Peter Millichap, European Marketing Manager at Navman Wireless said: “We are continually looking to enhance the functionality of our vehicle tracking tools to help our customers overcome the operational challenges they face. Our solutions are proven to improve the productivity and efficiency of a fleet, so it makes perfect sense to integrate with other industry-leading technology systems such as Transport Exchange Group’s freight exchange platform to provide additional value and boost performance.”
