Intelligent Installations has launched a range of integrated multi-camera solutions for commercial vehicles working within the rail sector that will improve road safety, enhance driver behaviour and reduce insurance costs. Combining the latest internal and external cameras, mobile digital video recorders (DVRs) and proximity sensors, the dedicated systems will help construction contractors, building merchants and material suppliers meet stringent health and safety regulations operated by Crossrail, Network Rail and London Underground.

In particular, a Crossrail and FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) compliant solution comprises a near side and off side camera, a rear camera and a 7-inch colour monitor with a choice of DVR unit. The in-cab monitor will show a live view to the driver from the respective camera when either the left or right indicator is flicked on or reverse gear engaged. In addition, a side detection system using ultrasonic sensors provides warning not only for the driver to adjust their manoeuvre but also to make any adjacent cyclists aware of a turning vehicle.

Unlike other systems in the marketplace, the multi-camera solutions have been designed with the demands and challenges of the construction environment in mind and Intelligent Installations is the only supplier to offer three-year warranty as standard. All the external cameras possess an IP67 or IP69 enclosure rating using robust steel casings, with aviation-style cabling and secure screw type connectors that ensure unrivalled levels of performance and protection. Meanwhile, remote health check, using a wifi network at a depot or base, alerts of any issues to minimise vehicle downtime and eliminate any potential loss of video footage.

Errin McNamee, Director of Intelligent Installations commented: “This range of multi-camera solutions has been developed to meet some of the most demanding health and safety regulations within the UK. Not only will they help improve road safety and enhance driver behaviour, but also capture video footage in the event of an incident to defend against wrongful driving allegations and reduce costly insurance claims. We provide a managed solution including all installation and ongoing support, making us the ideal partner for all commercial vehicle operators.”
