Product Care, a high quality delivery and aftercare service, has chosen Paragon’s routing and scheduling software to create a superior white-glove delivery solution. The system will help manage the company’s rapidly growing fleet, made up of 3.5, 7.5 and 26-tonne vehicles, to support the rapid expansion of the business and provide the highest levels of home delivery service. The vehicles are used for its nationwide delivery operation across an extensive catalogue of licensed and own brand electrical productranges, with plans to double the size of the fleet by the end of the year.
Paragon’s multi drop route planning software will replace an existing solution that was no longer meeting the needs of the fast growing business. The Paragon solution will enable the company to streamline and automate many planning processes that had previously required time-consuming, manual intervention. It will also enable Product Care to centralise and integrate its route planning and customer service teams to help better arrange deliveries and manage consumer expectations.
Product Care provides retail fulfilment of electrical goods direct to the consumer from three depots in Wigan, Glasgow and Luton. The one-and two-man deliveries typically operate five-days a week, handling between 750 and 1,000 orders each week. This increases up to a seven-day service during peak periods and is supported by third-party carriers for some more remote areas and Saturday deliveries. The planned fleet expansion, along with the introduction of two new depots, is expected to allow Product Care to handle a greater proportion of volumes in-house and increase capacity in line with forecasted levels of growth.
Moving forward, Product Care will integrate Paragon’s multi drop route planning software with its Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to provide it with a complete view of core business processes. It will be used to better understand the distribution infrastructure and model future fleet and depot requirements based on actual operational data. Elsewhere, the company is also in the process of adopting Paragon fleXipod, a mobile proof of delivery and fulfilment software product that automates job management for mobile workers and improves the customer experience at the point of delivery. This electronic system removes the need for manual data capture and provides immediate visibility of service levels.
Denis Hudson, Head of Client Relations at Product Care commented: “Our aim is to deliver a service that is unrivalled in the marketplace. We needed a routing and scheduling partner that could help us differentiate our order fulfilment operation, and demonstrate our commitment to business investment to retail partners. Paragon will enable us to streamline and simplify our internal processes, creating a highly sustainable and realistic planning capability that reduces planning time while increasing our ability to create feasible and efficient plans for our drivers. This will allow us to deliver on our service promise, while underpinning our future growth strategy.”
William Salter, Managing Director of Paragon Software Systems said: “Our proven expertise in transport optimisation and order fulfilment means that we are well-placed to support organisations looking to build their brand through a differentiated customer experience. Combining our advanced routing and scheduling systems with our unrivalled experience in the marketplace, we are helping customers across many different industries overcome their complex order fulfilment challenges.”
