Ctrack, an Inseego company, has extended its tracking capabilities with the launch of a battery-powered telematics device that uses long-life power management technology to operate for up to seven years. The tracking unit provides a simple asset management solution for a wide range of unpowered equipment such as trailers, skips, plant and portable toilets and other temporary structures. In particular, it will enable companies to enhance the security of their mobile resources, improve stock control and reduce the time needed to collect equipment by making it easier to locate.

Designed for reliable, multi-year deployments, the long-life battery unit is an ideal solution for managing assets that will be used for long periods of time without maintenance needs. To maximise battery life, it sends a single location a day, so companies managing high volumes of mobile assets can have peace of mind that everything is where it should be. The unit can be used as a standalone solution or integrated with real-time vehicle tracking, so all powered and unpowered assets can be monitored through the same telematics system.

The rugged enclosure has an IP67 rating, making it both dust-and water-proof, so it can handle all but the harshest conditions. The use of internal antennas combined with the compact nature of the specially-developed casing makes it easy to conceal and mountable virtually anywhere, while the choice of fittings – including screw and magnet options – offers flexible and straightforward self-installation.

“We have launched the battery-powered telematics unit following strong demand from our customers for a simple tracking solution that would give them added visibility and control over a wide range of unpowered, mobile resources,” explained Steve Thomas, Managing Director of Ctrack. “They needed something that could be integrated with their existing real-time telematics system for their vehicles, so they could have complete transparency of all assets through a single user interface.”
