Accora targets road safety with Ctrack's advanced fleet and AI video telematics solution

Accora is rolling-out the solution across its fleet of vans to improve road safety and meet duty of care requirements
Accora, the medical seating and bed manufacturer, has teamed up with Ctrack by Inseego to upgrade its fleet telematics with integrated AI dashcams and advanced driver behaviour monitoring. The company is rolling-out the solution across its fleet of vans, operated nationwide by its team of product specialists and engineers, to improve road safety and meet duty of care requirements. Initial results have already demonstrated a 20% reduction in harsh driving events and an associated 15% improvement in fuel efficiency.
“People safety and wellbeing underpin every aspect of our business, so it is important that we are doing our upmost to protect our drivers, other road users and the communities we work within,” explains Nicholas Drake, Sales Manager at Accora. “The adoption of Ctrack’s advanced telematics solution, with the addition of AI dashcams, will give us the tools needed to target fleet risk reduction. The early results are already very encouraging.”
Following a review of the telematics marketplace, Accora chose to expand its existing Ctrack vehicle tracking system. The company successfully trialled the Ctrack AI dashcam – gaining positive feedback from drivers – with plans to roll-out the device across the rest of the fleet. It combines forward-and driver-facing cameras, using AI and machine vision to detect and assess risk in and out of the vehicle, so the driver can be notified of issues in real-time and footage uploaded to the cloud for review, if required.
“The AI dashcams are being used to identify and help drivers self-correct dangerous or distracted behaviour, such as tailgating, mobile phone use, eating, drinking and taking eyes off the road. There was some initial reluctance amongst our drivers, but those that have tested the solution now recognise that it has encouraged improved driving habits,” adds Drake.
Following the trial, one driver commented: “The main positive is that it warns me when I’m doing something I should not. For example, if I look down at my phone the device will bleep as it sees my eyes are not on the road, or if I drive with food or drink in my hand it reminds me to put this down and pay attention. Because I know this will now happen, it is helping to change my habits and have an effect for the better.”
As part of the solution, Accora has also adopted Ctrack’s Executive Dashboard and Mobi2 driver app. The Executive Dashboard will provide an at-a-glance summary of key performance metrics regarding driver behaviour, while Mobi2 offers an effective engagement solution that calculates individual driver scores to inspire safety best practice and motivate change through gamification.
